Greetings from the 5th generation Tatsumura Heizo's invasion

I hope this message finds you all in good health and prosperity.
I am pleased to announce that I, Ikugi Tatsumura, have been honored to succeed to the name Heizo Tatsumura, the fifth generation.It has been 130 years since
my great-grandfather, the first-generation Ryumura Heizo, founded the textile business in 1894 (Meiji 27). During that time, four men bearing the name Ryumura Heizo were born, each leading and advancing the dyeing and textile industry in their respective eras.I feel immense joy at having now inherited this honorable name and at being in a position to forge ahead as an artist.
Upon assuming the name Ryumura Heizo V, I will first and foremost carry on the spirit of “Supreme Quality” embodied in the calligraphy of the first Ryumura Heizo.The “quality” referred to here does not merely denote the physical aspect of an item—such as its dimensions or weight meeting established standards—but also embodies “class” (elegance and character) and “substance” (inner fulfillment), which represent humanity’s true aspirations. It is my intention to create artistic textiles that fulfill these ideals to the highest degree.
Furthermore, to achieve this “Supreme Quality,” I have adopted “The Vitality of Wa, The Liberation of Wa” as my new guiding principle. This involves reinterpreting the designs (composition and color schemes), design methods (expression), and weaving techniques that have long been rigid and formulaic in the world of traditional Japanese attire—a movement that is now gaining significant momentum globally—"reinterpretation of accumulated aesthetic sensibilities, sensibilities, and techniques" (Vitality of Wa). Through this, I aim to further evolve the "originality" and "restoration" that have become synonymous with Tatsumura Art Textiles, elevate contemporary art textiles to the realm of "art," and create a movement (Liberation of Wa) to share them both domestically and internationally.Moving forward, I will continue to strive as an artist to achieve the “highest quality” on a global scale.
