Description

While the term “hanging scroll” generally brings to mind paintings, at Tatsumura Art Textiles, we have created hanging scrolls by weaving works that embody the artistic quality befitting our name, “Art Textiles.”Hanging scrolls are often highly valued as celebratory gifts. Each piece, woven with quintessentially Japanese landscapes and beautiful patterns from throughout history and across the globe, is sure to make such occasions even more memorable.

Patterns

The embroidered patterns are based on the Keicho era ships with their sails flapping. The brocade sails depict Mount Horai, where hermits are said to live, the phoenix, the king of the hundred birds, and peonies, the symbol of a hundred flowers. The gold background with haze and pine trees is gorgeous and reminiscent of an elegant ship filled with treasures. Each pattern is decorated with good fortune and auspiciousness, and woven into a gorgeous brocade to celebrate the start of a new life.
