Description

The way the deliberately long, flowing strands of thread overlap in a variety of colors creates an elegant atmosphere, making it a delightful feature that you’ll never tire of looking at, no matter how many times you see it. This piece is perfect not only for traditional Japanese-style rooms but also as an accent in modern Western-style rooms.

Uroko-gata Kissho In-mon(Brocade with Design of Good Omen and Tiger in Triangle)

Since ancient days, people have loved a design of a collecton of good omen, such as mallet of luck, clove, cloud, sacred sword, treasure scroll, and etc.. The pattern of this brocade is composed of such collection of good omen and a tiger often seen in the textiles made in the 16th century Ming Dynasty China designed with the hope of longevity and good health of posterity. Here, each motif is arranged in the ground design of stripe and triangle, known as uroko-gata or fish scale pattern. Warp-patterned brocade of good luck is woven with our refined technique as a happy omen to bring about happiness and prosperity.
