龍村美術織物では、1894（明治27）年の創業以来、"復元と創作"を根底に織物づくりに取り組んで参りました。中でも、正倉院宝物の研究、復元はその根幹の一つです。初代龍村平藏が正倉院にて古代裂（こだいぎれ）の調査を行い、研究の後、復元を果たして以来、今日の龍村美術織物までその知識と技術、そして精神は連綿と受け継がれています。
