文様説明

Kakyou bai kamanin shiki
In the history of Japanese dyeing and weaving, the Shosoin saki is an enormous group of textiles that appeared after the Horyuji saki. This original piece is one of them. It is a beautiful brocade with a pattern of six-petaled flowers, which at first glance appear to be plum blossoms, placed on a green background, with jewel-like necklaces and small pretty birds in between. This brocade was probably one of the most popular brocades used in the Nara period (710-794), judging from its use for many things, such as covers for banners and boxes, and for dressing gowns. This piece is woven using the noble and tasteful warp brocade weaving method, so as not to lose the taste of the past. (Reproduced without permission)
