En-ka-mon(Brocade with Design of Monkey and Flower)
Weaving technique of textile fabric in the Andes Mountains had been remarkably progressed and uniquely evolved by the people who cu ltivated their place of residence in the high mountains, while attuning themselves to the peculiar natural environment.
The design of this brocade is modeled after a pattern of a tapestry woven in the southern Andes Mountains in the latter half of the 17th century to the 18th century.
We have made the warp-patterned brocade with the design of stylized vines placed gloriously and rhythmically and monkeys set back to back.
I-no-me-mon(Design of Wild Boar Eye)
The heart-shaped pattern is called "I-no-me" because it resembles an eye of wild boar, and it was often used on the decorative devices o f doors and other equipments of temples and shrines. Wild boar had been dei fied as an amulet and warding off evil by its strong impression conveyed by the eyes, and thought as a messenger of fire prevention and an administrator of fortune.
"Menuki", ornamental cover of rivet to connect sword hilt and sword blade, had been developed with the passage of time to the chief decoration of sword handle, and many designs of wild boar worked extremely de licate technique have been seen on the "Menuki".
We have composed a design by vertically placing wavy pattern of metal fittings of "I-no-me (wild boar eye)", and wild boar seen in "Menuki" of a sword in the center, and have woven into warp-patterned brocade.
KOPUTO-NO-TORA(Tiger in the Coptic Design)
The Coptic art was formed its distinctive world from the Oriental Christian Arts flourished around the Nile River area in ancient Egypt.
The pattern of this brocade is modeled after the Coptic design left in many textile fabrics made in those days. This design is consisted of a tiger placed in the center, flower and leaf patterns alternatively putting up across the tiger, and small flowers lined up in the ribbon frame.
We have woven the formatted Coptic Art into warp-patterned brocade leaving the atmosphere of the Byzantine design.
TEMPYO SOKA-MON NISHIKI(Tempyo Brocade with Double Floral Design)
Design of this brocade is modeled after a warp-patterned brocade of short sleeve waistcoat having been kept at Shoso-in repository in Nara since the 8th century. The design consists of the six-petal floral patterns and the lozenge floral patterns, both lined up vertically and alternately. This design is typical in the initial stage of the "floral design" which be came more complex with more petals on later days.
We have woven into warp-patterned brocade with exquisite technique creating originality on color scheme and leaving the elegant atmosphere of the original.
