Patterns
Taishi Hishi-tsunagi-mon (Brocade of Crown Price with Continuous Diamond-shaped Design)
The original design of this brocade is from in a banner of Horyu-ji temple built by Crown Prince Shotoku in 607 AD. The banner is kept at the Tokyo National Museum today. We commission-wove the duplicate by Horyu-ji's request in 1971 in commemoration of the 1360 anniversary of his death. The design and the colorway both are novel even today.
