Collection: Ko-aoi-mon (Small Design of Hollyhock)

This is a typical design to be used for USOKU fabric. USOKU fabric is used for costume of courtiers, especially worn in ceremonies. It can be seen in the picture scroll of "Genji Monogatari Emaki" made in the Heian period (842~1160 AD). The design depicting the hollyhock was used for furniture as well in the ancient days.
