Description
It can be used not only at tea ceremonies but also as a rug for incense burners and other interior decoration.
This kobaku gauze can be used in the Urasenke school, one of the tea ceremony schools.
About the gauze
This is a fabric with a coarse weave and a translucent feel. It is cool and suitable for summer use.
Patterns
Shikami-mon(Lion Mask Design)
This design is modeled after the ancient fabric kept in Shoso-in Repository, Nara Prefecture, depicting lion lined up horizontally opening the mouth. The pattern preserves the ancient Chinese motif of the t'ao t'ieh (ogre mask) in the Chow period (B.C. 1122-770).
We have made into SHA weave which is thin and cool fabric, of which patterns are effected by patterning wefts which alternates with ground yarn.
