Ko-shi Kozuchi-mon Nishiki (Brocade with Design of The Rat and Mallet)
The year of The Rat is the first one to come in the 12 Zodiac animals and The Rat is considered as a messenger of the deity of wealth. This design is modeled after a pattern of a book-cover of Hosokawa Sansai (1563~1646 AD), who was a samurai and a master of tea ceremony. The design depicts 17 poses of The Rat. We have woven into warp-patterned-brocade adding small mallet as a good omen.
