Fukugi Joka-mon Nishiki(Brocade of Fuxi and Nuwa Pattern)
A snake, looks as a resuscitated life, is considered to have relation to a dragon by its figure which benefits from rain and water. Therefore a snake became the object to be worshipped.
According to a legend of ancient China, when the pillars holding the heaven leaned, there was a flood that distroyed the whole creatures but a couple, the Emperor Fuxi and the Goddess Nuwa, who are, then, thought to be the progenitors of the human race.
The pattern of this brocade is composed of Fuxi and Nuwa, having human upper body and snake tail in their lower body, and the sun, the moon and a constellation depicting the elegance of the Creation in a mythelogy of ancient China.
