Ko-un-reiju-mon(Brocade with Design of Tiger, Cloud, & Sacred Beast)
The design of this fabric is modeled after a brocade made in th e Later Han Dynasty China (25, AD-220, AD).
The tiger and the sacred beast spreading its wing are depicted in the variant clouds.
Since ancient times, people in China have theorized that the tiger is a sacred beast on equal footing with the Chinese dragon, lung, a legendary animal creature. Both of them are considered as the happy animals and a symbol of good luck.
We have woven the auspicious design into warp-patterned brocade with our exquisite weaving technique.
