Sarasa Un-ryu-mon(Design of Auspicious Clouds and Liu)
The original design of this brocade is referred to a pattern of printed cotton fabric made in Japan in the Edo Period (17C-19C, AD) when people had been so inspired by the printed cotton fabric imported from India and then, they finally started to produce by themselves.
Since ancient days, in China and the Eastern Asian countries, Liu was believed to be the ancestor of the lives on Earth and the divine beast.Liu goes up to the sky to make the blessing rain. The clouds are, therefore, the good omen as they make people happy by sending rain to produce a bumper crop.
We made a mysterious and powerful Liu design in roundel, rhythmically placed with the auspicious clouds. We have woven this design of authoritative objects into warp-patterned brocade to be looked friendly and charming.
