Description

When it comes to handbags that complement traditional Japanese attire, classic Boston-style handbags—which offer ample storage—are particularly popular. They can be used in a wide variety of settings, from outings to tea ceremonies.

Made entirely from Tatsumura-bori fabric, this bag features elegant and vibrant colors that elevate your look to the next level. The wide opening makes it easy to pack and unpack your belongings, and the bag closes completely with a zipper, ensuring it looks beautiful when carried. With its generous gusset, it can securely hold essentials such as gift envelopes, makeup pouches, cell phones, billfold wallets, and handkerchiefs.

The interior features two large pockets. One of these pockets has a zipper, making it very convenient for storing valuables. On both sides of the exterior, there are outer pockets that can hold items about the thickness of a kaishi (traditional Japanese paper handkerchief), allowing you to store items you want to access quickly, such as a commuter pass or a handkerchief.

This classic Boston-style bag enjoys enduring popularity as an accessory for traditional Japanese attire, making it suitable for a wide variety of occasions.

Dragon Boat Festival" collection of patterns to ward off bad luck

Children's Day in 2026 is scheduled to fall on May 5 (Tuesday). In Japan, it was introduced as one of the five festivals in the Nara and Heian periods, and by the Edo period (1603-1867), it had spread from the samurai to the common people, leading to the culture of carp streamers and warrior dolls. In modern times, it has taken root as an important event for boys, with its original meaning as a celebration to ward off bad luck and pray for good health.
Tatsumura Bijutsu Orimono offers a variety of May dolls and patterns suitable for to convey such feelings. Please take this opportunity to select from a wide variety of well-designed patterns for warding off evil spirits, including traditional scale patterns.

UROKO-TOMOE-SAKURA DAN-MON(STRIPE DESIGN WITH SCALE, TOMOE & CHERRY BLOSSOM)

The design of this fabric is modeled after one of the gold brocade made in Ming Dynasty, China (14~17C, AD) of which design is consisted of scale, TOMOE (three comma-shaped beads, or MAGATAMA, encircled) and cherry blossom respectively drawn in repeated sashes. The TOMOE pattern has been believed as a divine spirit and used as an amulet. The original brocade is considered to be the supreme masterpiece produced in the Medieval Ages.
Here, we used the combination of less-luster gold thread and slightly-different-color yarns to show three-dimensional effect to make the design more conspicuous and recreates the sensitive and harmonious beauty. We hope you will enjoy the continuing beauty of the original masterpiece.
